personality
-------------------------------------
Tab is, for all intents and purposes, an average Dauntless. Of course, that means she objects to being called "average." She was born into Dauntless—a fact she often brags about—and like much of her faction, she is prideful, loud, and strives to be different. She often goes looking for danger just to feel adrenaline pumping through her veins, and she has many tattoos and piercings to prove her individuality. Under her constant show of strength and bravery, though, she's often quite scared, and—although she would never admit it—she has many flaws. Even as she puts on an outward appearance of being happy and fearless, when she's alone, she often becomes troubled, wondering what her purpose is and wanting to strive for something better. Her pride would never allow her to express such feelings to anyone else, but deep inside, sometimes hidden even from herself, she's lonely and desperate for affection.

Tab was born and raised in Dauntless and doesn't know any other way of life—and she wouldn't want to! The feeling of adrenaline pumping through your veins, the knowledge that no one is better than you (in your mind, anyways), and the feeling of loyalty and commitment you share with people who you sometimes don't even know—it was all like a drug to her. She loved to feel these things—the rush of adrenaline, the confidence, the companionship—and in Dauntless she could experience it every day. She knew from the time that she found out about Choosing Day that she would never be able to choose any faction but Dauntless. It came as a huge blow to her when her sister and then her brother both joined Erudite. She couldn't believe that they would abandon all of the people who had had their backs althroughout their childhood, through every dangerous adventure and every stunt, for some power-hungry nerds that they didn't know anything about. She believed that by turning their backs on the life of Dauntless, they were showing weakness. She began to hate them for not being strong enough to stay and eventually developed a deep hatred for weakness of any kind. Despite the fact that she hated weakness, she began to grow weak from the inside out without noticing as she grew older. She sat and pondered her existence, wondering why she was here, what her purpose was, what she was supposed to do with her life—all deep thoughts for a young Dauntless girl. She began to feel a void in her chest the more she pondered this, and would often find herself on the verge of tears just from finding herself alone. She grew away from her family and began to throw herself into dangerous stunts and outings with the other kids, always searching for that adrenaline rush, something to fill the void and make her feel alive, if only for a little while. It became like a drug to her, the only medication that could take away her sadness and make her less weak. After the first couple of months on her "medication" she decided that if she couldn't be fearless on the inside, she could at least eradicate all signs of weakness on the outside, and maybe it would spread somehow. She built an appearance for herself, carefully crafting herself to look like perfection, at least in a Dauntless sense of the word, and now she has become so adept at pretending to be fearless that no one can tell it's an act, not even herself.
